I have been helping people buy and sell homes in Heather Gardens since 1997. Heather Gardens is an age restricted community located in Aurora, Colorado about 10 miles southeast of downtown Denver and less than a mile from the Cherry Creek State Park. The minimum age for one member of the household is 55 with no children under the age of 18 as permanent residents. The homes in Heather Gardens are located in a 200-acre park-like setting around an award-winning executive 9-hole golf course. With exceptional home values, 24/7 security and its carefree, maintenance-free lifestyle, Heather Gardens sets the standard as an active adult community in Denver.
Heather Gardens has a multi-million dollar 50,000 square foot Clubhouse that provides over 100 activities, clubs and classes for its residents enjoyment and entertainment. Some amenities of the clubhouse include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness center, tennis courts, picnic area with gas barbeque grills, multi-use auditorium, coffee café area, golf pro shop, full-service restaurant and much more! A list of the programs and classes offered at the clubhouse can be found on the Heather Gardens Association website.
Heather Gardens is home to an award-winning executive 9-hole golf course enhanced by lush fairways, elevated greens and well-positioned bunkers. The 2,461 yard, par 32 course provides a tough yet fair test of golf for all skill levels. The easy access, located between I-225, Parker Road and Yale Ave, makes it easy to sneak a quick round of golf into a long lunch. For tee times call: 303-751-2390
There are more than 2,400 homes in Heather Gardens, which are comprised of 5 styles of high rise apartment buildings, patio homes and town homes. The high rise buildings are called Alpha, Somerset, Seville, Atrium and Omega. Apartments range in size from a 1-bedroom 1-bath unit with 780 square feet to a 3-bedrooms 3-baths executive unit with 2,412 square feet. Patio and town homes range in size from a 2-bedrooms 2-baths home with 930 square feet to a 3-bedrooms 3-baths home with 1,663 square feet.
The 12 four story Alpha buildings are situated south of the clubhouse along the west side of the community. These building have detached covered parking in one of four structures near each building, either in garages on top or in reserved parking below, and building laundry facilities located on the 2nd floor of each building. There are no washer/dryer hook-ups in the individual apartments of these buildings.
These buildings all have under building parking garages and laundry hook-ups in the apartments. The 12 six story Somerset buildings are located on East Linvale Place and East Marina Drive.
The 6 Seville buildings, located by the federal wildlife area at the southeast corner, have as their centerpiece a separate park area. The park includes and outdoor pool and whirlpool, tennis court and duck pond. During the planning for these buildings, room and balcony sizes were downsized slightly for economy of construction.
The 4 Atrium buildings have a central interior courtyard. Covered with skylights 80 feet above the lobby floor, the courtyard provides a bright and elegant atmosphere.
The single three-story Omega building is located just beside the Clubhouse and was the last multi-story structure built in 1986. It has and under building parking garage and laundry hook-ups in the apartments.
The townhomes are two stories plus a basement, four units to a building. The top level has three bedrooms with guest and master bath, the main level is living, dining, and kitchen space, a half bath, walkout patio and an attached 2 car garage. Basement level was originally unfinished, but most now have laundry, storage, bath and/or living area in a full or partial finish.
Most of the Patio Homes are 1176 square feet plus the same in the basement with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on the main floor. There are some 3 bedroom (1372 sq. ft.) and a few are 2 story plus a basement. As with the townhomes, parking is in the attached 2 car garage. Only 255 Patio Homes were built. n
